What is an Orthopaedic Surgeon?

Orthopaedic surgeons perform a variety of surgical procedures to correct deformities, repair fractures, and manage disease. More common procedures include:

  • Arthroscopy. Utilizes specialized cameras and equipment to see into a joint to diagnose and treat problems.
  • Fusion. Bones are fused together using internal devices (metal rods) and/or bone grafts.
  • Internal fixation. A procedure that puts fractured or pieces of bone together in the correct position using metal plates, pins or screws.
  • Joint replacement. Uses an artificial joint (prosthesis) to replace joints damaged by injury or arthritis.
  • Osteotomy. To correct bone deformities by cutting and repositioning the bone.
  • Soft tissue repair. The mending of soft connective tissue including torn tendons and ligaments.

 

Adult Reconstruction- Joint Replacement

Total hip and knee revision surgery is for patients whose previous orthopaedic surgeries are now failing and need new joint replacements, implants or bone grafting.

Arthritis Care

Olympia Orthopaedic Associates has providers that specialize in caring for your arthritis.

Foot and Ankle

Treating injuries or conditions affecting the ankle and foot such as:

  • occupational and athletic injuries
  • trauma
  • rheumatoid
  • degenerative arthritis
  • congenital deformities
  • neuromuscular diseases
  • diabetes

Fracture Care

When accidents happen and bones break, our physicians specialize in repairing the fracture.

Hand and Upper Extremity

Treating the hand and arms and include reconstructive procedures such as:

  • replantation
  • skin, vascular, nerve, tendon and bone reconstruction
  • tumors
  • rehabilitation due to arthritis
  • stroke effects
  • cerebral palsy
  • congenital conditions
  • work related disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome

Orthopaedic Spine & Neurosurgery

Providing diagnostic evaluations and treatment for:

Sports Medicine

As orthopaedic surgeons, we treat a broad range of musculskeletal injuries resulting from athletic events, training and conditioning. We work closely with trainers and rehabilitation specialists to monitor patient progress.

Diagnostic Imaging

At Olympia Orthopaedic Associates, we offer both a traditional (closed) MRI and an Open MRI. With our Open MRI, we are able to accommodate our patients with claustrophobia and still get high quality imaging to get you the best treatment possible.

Physical Therapy

Coming in January 2012, Olympia Orthopaedic Associates is expanding services to include out-patient physical therapy.
