Yoshihiro Yamamoto, MD, DMSc
Dr. Yamamoto has lived in Olympia since 2005 with his wife and 2 children. He enjoys skiing and playing golf.
Dr. Yamamoto grew up in Japan and graduated from Okayama University Medical School in Okayama City, where he completed his residency in the Department of Neurological Surgery. He then did a second residency and fellowship in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Before coming to Olympia Orthopedics, he was in private practice in Lexington, Kentucky, and was on staff at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, where he served as Medical Director of Neurosurgery.
Dr. Yamamoto is certified by the Japanese Board of Neurosurgery and the American Board of Neurologic Surgery. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Washington.
Dr. Yamamoto specializes in minimally invasive microscopic surgery for brain tumors, pituitary tumors, and spinal cord tumors, and applies the same skills to neck and back surgeries. He recently helped Capital Medical Center acquire a state-of-the-art computer navigation tool.
